Shanghai Shenhua Crashes Out
Shanghai Shenhua were knocked out of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday after a 1-0 defeat to Pohang Steelers in the quarter-finals.
The Chinese Super League side were outplayed by their Korean opponents and failed to register a single shot on target in the match.
Pohang Steelers will now face Ulsan Hyundai in the semi-finals on October 18.
Pohang Steelers Impress
Pohang Steelers were the better side throughout the match and deserved their victory.
They created several good chances in the first half and eventually took the lead through Lee Soo-bin in the 55th minute.
Shanghai Shenhua never really threatened to get back into the game and were fortunate not to lose by a bigger margin.
Pohang Steelers Advance To Semis
Pohang Steelers' victory is a major upset, as Shanghai Shenhua were one of the favorites to win the tournament.
However, Pohang Steelers have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with and will be a dangerous opponent for Ulsan Hyundai in the semi-finals.
The match between Pohang Steelers and Ulsan Hyundai will be played on October 18 at the Pohang Steel Yard.
